CLASSES

PRE-PRIMARY 1

 

This is a class of children  with mental handicaped but their ages vary. This class is the lowest level from all the primary classes. The children play various objects such as  Lego, bottle caps,wooden blocks , dolls, cartoons etc for munipulatioins skills. They also learn self help skills such as toileting, bathing, eating habits, dressing etc. Apartfrom that they are taught  communication skills, Kiswahili, gym and  dance and music.

PRIMARY 1

​

This class is for children with a severe mental mind handicap. In this class they start the day with counting, learning the days of the week, months and years. Every day they learn about God and sing songs about Him.  They learn pre-number activities, communication skills, activities of daily living, perceptual skills, music, basic ICT skills and they also learn how to do the basic things in life such as dish washes, washing the clothes, mopping and cleaning.

PRIMARY 2

​

This is a class of children with various abilities. The children in this class learn basic academic work such as mathematics that involves pre number work i.e  counting, sort and grouping,communication skills, social skills, perceptual skills, religion music and basic ICT skills. They learn actitivities of daily living which include self help skills like body hygiene, bathing, eating habits dressing, grooming, cleaning the compound and mopping. They are also taught Art work like painting, drawing ,scriblling etc.

 

PRIMARY 3

​

This is the highest academic class in the school. They learn English, Kiswahili, Art, music, maths, communication, Activities of daily living and  basic ICT skills. They are taught typing skills in the computer, how to use a phone and also other ICT resources.

Children who do well in academic work in this class are always integrated into the other regular schools and are encouraged to continue with learning according to their ablilities. The school there fore organizes for follow ups in the regular schools where teachers go to offer the neccessary support to the students and the regular teachers.

students who do not excell in academic are always promoted to to the pre- vocational class so that they can start learning various vocationalskills like woodwork, beads work, tailoring, agriculture, home management among other vocational skills.

PRE-VOCATIONAL CLASS

This is a class which prepares the students for the workshop classes. They  are taught pre- vocational   practical  skills  like beads work, weaving, wood work ,tailoring , loom work, agriculture, and other skill areas.

Apart from that, they are also taught indenpedence living skills that can enable them to functional well in the environment. The teachers do promote these students to the next Vocational class only after they have mastered skills in a particular vocational area and the student will be taken to a Vocational class of the student's  interest. 

SPECIAL CLASS
 

This is class for children with Autism. They are taught self help skills such as tooth brushing, body hygiene, toileting, dressing, communication skills, music, art, knowledge of the environment,  Children in this class enjoy listening to soft music and also watching various pictures on a computer screen.

WORKSHOP 1

​This is a vocatinal class for Carpentry Work (woodwork). The students learn practical skills in making tables, chairs, stools, bookselves, Chop board, among other wooden materials. The finished products made in this class can be sold to other people.They are taught Independence Living Skills, enterpreneurship, ICT Skills and family life skills and safety precautions  in the workshop. The students take a period of 4 years  in this class before they can graduate.

The training takes 3 years and last one year students are taken out for attachment within their home environment so that the students can gain work experience before they can do practical examination and finally graduation.

The transition process from school to the home environment has been a real challenge for the school because the society has nagative perception towards these children and there do not offer the necesarry support in terms of getting employment since they have to compete the able bodied people in the socity.

WORKSHOP 2

 

This is a  vocational class where the students are trained to do  practical work in weaving, tailoring, beadwork, and modelling. They make tablecloths, school uniforms, trousers, shirts and also bracelets and necklaces.

The students also learn ICTskills , social skills, family life skills and Independence Living skills. The finished products made by the students are always sold to the  Visitors and other people.

The students also learn about  safety measures in the workshop. The students take 4 years in this class before they can graduate. The training takes 3 years and the last one year they are taken out for attachement so as to gain work experience after which they do practical examinition before the final graduation.

 

WORKSHOP 3

 

This is a vocational class for agriculture. The students in this class are taught practical vocational skills such as garden work, poultry keeping,

 horticulture, haircutting and beauty, and weaving The students also learn, social skills, enterpreneurship, Independence Living skillls, ICT skills, family life skills and safety precautions in handling farm tools.

The students take 4 years before they can graduate

Training takes 3 years and the last one year the students are taken out for attachment in their home environment so that they can gain work expereince afterwhich they do practical examination and finally graduation.

WORKSHOP 4

 

The is a vocational class for home management activities. The students are taught practical vocational skills in cleaning of the home, cooking, laudry work, ironing and the general cleaning of the home environment.

They are also taught social skills, enterpreneurship, ICT skills, family life skillls, safety precautions

The students takes 4 years before they can graduate  and the training should take 3 years and the last one year the students are taken out for attachment in their home environment so that they can gain work experience afterwhich they do practical examination and finally graduation.
